The Registrar

The Registrar of Community Housing is a statutory appointment under section 10 of the Community Housing Providers (Adoption of National Law) Act 2012 (NSW). The Registrar reports directly to the Minister for Housing, who administers the National Law.

The Registrar registers community housing providers independently of the Department of Communities and Justice. While this reporting structure guarantees the Registrar’s independence, the Registrar of Community Housing's office operates as a business unit of the department and receives support in the areas of accounting, information technology and legal services.

The Registrar is supported by two specialist teams of staff including analysts, financial analysts, sector liaison staff and administrators. One team looks after community housing providers registered under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH).
