Regulatory Practice Forum

The Regulatory Practice Forum for housing regulators facilitates co-operative action and the exchange of ideas, information and practice about housing regulation.

The Forum comprises of the statutory or administrative regulator in each State and Territory, and a representative from the Australian Government.

The Forum’s objectives are to:

  • facilitate co-operation and share expertise and experience on regulatory practice;
  • facilitate the development of common regulatory methodologies and resources; and
  • promote good practice amongst regulators.

The Forum recognises that a National Regulatory System is in development, as agreed by Housing Ministers Conference. The Forum acknowledges that its practice work in relation to existing jurisdictional regulatory systems is separate from the policy work of the National Regulatory System being undertaken by the Commonwealth and State/Territory housing authorities. As the National Regulatory System takes form, there will be a need to ensure that the work of the Forum aligns.
